I'm normally there by 8.30, although one of my marshalls is normally there from 8am.

What's the FPS limits Jimbo? Trying to decide if it's worth bringing the MG42 along for a shakedown! It's shooting around 345fps.

If only the Ford boys would bring the Vickers and the Lewis - now that would be fun! BTW - Are any of the pics from last sunday been put up anywhere Jimbo old bean?

If any of them are coming i can bring along the spare BD jacket and tousers i have that they can borrow - its not in our slipped chest size so should fit the normal sized ones.

As Arthur Smith said : 'The thing that most annoys me about young people is that I'm not one of them!'

You wont get the Ford team away from home before the event fella, they're even putting in extra training so their support gun crews work well together. That Vickers needs connecting up to the water can before it can fire, that's the rod you make for your back when you make a water cooled weapon.

Looking forward to seeing that MG42 in action. I've only played one game up against a support weapon, some yank thing with a box on the side, and try as I might I just couldn't get anywhere near it. It was in a defensive role, so I'll be interested to see how it works in an offensive role.

Being as it weighs a ton and you have to be prone to fire it, its a bloody nightmare to use offensively! :giggle: but you are also welcome to have a go with it :good: Firing from the hip is actually possible and there was official Wehrmacht doctrine for Sturmfeuer! Good YouTube vid here:

I believe german MG teams were from 3 to 6 men, I can see why now, they needed that many to take turns carrying the damn thing. I guess in airsoft terms you'd have a 2 or 3 man team, one to fire it and the two others to protect it. Certainly looking forward to having a look at it.

Yeah I'm up for that. There's a couple of good bunkers at Worthing, I'm sure at some point in the day there'll be an opportunity to hole up in one them and see how long we can hold off the attackers.

You may want to go light in the morning, it's a very free roaming affair unless you want to dig in a base and defend it. In the afternoon things will be a bit more conventional A&D or rolling assault.

Sturmpioniere don't do "going light"!

Yes, if I can lift my head whilst lying prone, without getting my helmet stuck on my Marschgepack, I'll be wearing the whole damn lot! (Yes I am an idiot! )

Enjoyable day today, good to meet Messers Steiner and Boshman. That MG42 really is most impressive, proved a bit of a crowd puller at lunchtime. I have a feeling it'll prove very useful in a couple of weeks. Fremsley, I hope your hooter isn't hurting too much this evening, best get a good drop of that spiced Captain Morgan you mentioned down the hatch. Fancy shooting the medic, blackhearted b.......ds. See you guys at Sealion.

I can only apologise for not spending enough time with you guys today, but it was hectic and all my regular marshalls suddenly want to be players getting ready for GZW. When you serve two masters (modern and WW2) you pay the price sometimes. I hope the day was enjoyable and if nothing else Steiner and Boshman I hope you learned all that kit is really not practical for airsofting
I was shocked by the state of Fremsley's nose, what is it with noses at EAG Worthing and no it wasn't a tanaka wot dunnit, more likely a spotty teanage youth with a dyno rod orange two tone gun!
I must admit I look at the new wave youth's will gelled hair and a two tone SA80 in the brightest orange there is, and I know why so many on this forum just do not do walk ons, they'd be great if we didn't have to let joe public in :)
I hope you all had fun today and really hope that Sealion makes up for it.

Yep, had fun yesterday, and was nice to meet Fred and Razor. Practicality??! Wassat? Wearing full kit including Marschgepack (or whatever it's called) is neither practical, nor sensible. Maybe that's why I did it. I did ditch the backpack in the afternoon, but only because I was carrying the MG42!
